So What?
So what if it took Joe Wood nearly two hours to die by lethal injection? Ultimately, the desired outcome was achieved. The sole purpose of the death penalty~and by extension, lethal injections, hanging, the firing squad, the electric chair~is to kill the miscreant, so what's the big deal? Just look at what Mr Wood did to put himself in such a position:
While all of Arizona's~nay, America's~do-gooders are whining at the top of their lungs about the insensitivity of the Wood execution, Ms Jeannie Brown had quite a different take:
As is their norm, the ACLU doesn't seem to consider either the crimes committed by the various miscreants, or the detrimental affects said crimes have on the victims' families. Instead, they just plow ahead with an almost obamacRATic, socio-fascist bent to denigrate the various procedures of inducing death to those so deserving.
In the case of the [allegedly] botched execution of Dennis McGuire on January 16, 2014 took all of fifteen (15) minutes for him to pay the adjudicated 'price' for his misdeeds. Mr McGuire earned his "15 minutes of fame" by raping and murdering the very-much pregnant Joy Stewart in 1989 [It's unclear if the unborn child survived]. Seems to me, he got a highly UN-deserved twenty-five (25) EXTRA years of life!
In the case of the [allegedly] botched execution of Clayton Lockett on April 29, 2014, he is currently in second-place in the 'Execution Longevity Games' with a time of forty-three (43) minutes. Mr Lockett deservedly "assumed room temperature" for his convictions on murder, rape, forcible sodomy, kidnapping, assault and battery charges. Mr Lockett also buried his victim, 19 year-old Stephanie Neiman ALIVE!! For all this, Lockett got an extra fourteen (14) EXTRA years of oxygen consumption!
As I see it, no matter what cleaver method of execution is used~or misused~there can be NO botched executions so long as the desired result is EVENTUALLY achieved! Furthermore, I'm in favor of executions being conducted within 60 DAYS of conviction, appeals included. When the time runs out, so do the appeals~concluded OR NOT!

In 1989, Joseph Wood smilingly fired one shot into Gene Dietz' chest, then fired two shots into his daughter Debbie's chest. Both shootings were at point-blank range.Even if all Mr Wood's shots were into the heart of each victim, I doubt seriously that either of them died instantaneously. Both daughter and father had to suffer excruciating pain for the several minutes required for them to bleed-out and succumb to the fatal injuries. Not only were the Dietz's subjected to the fatal shootings, both also suffered the emotional pain of staring down and pleading with their assailant, waiting for what was to come next.
